History

Founded in September 2022 alongside the development of our first design, TWK Designs has brought two additional designs to completion, with two new projects currently on the workbench.

Mission

The mission of TWK Designs is to bring players together through games that challenge the mind and transform every decision into a shared experience – whether forging alliances in good faith or stirring up a little playful chaos

Design Philosophy

Depth: We build challenging environments where every decision carries weight, offering meaningful choices for players at all experience levels. New players can intuitively grasp the core mechanics, while experienced gamers are rewarded for long-term planning and tactical mastery.

Meaningful Interaction: Player interaction drives every design we create. Whether encouraging sharp negotiation, tight collaboration, or moments of table-turning chaos, our games ensure every session is dynamic and uniquely shaped by the players involved.

Replayability: No two plays should unfold the same way. By pairing modular mechanics with high player agency, our games create shifting tactical landscapes that reward adaptation, encourage new strategies, and keep players coming back.

Timothy W. Kühn

Founder of TWK Designs and a freelance board game designer based in Prague, Czech Republic.

“My passion for board game design stems from my love for competitive play, which took root in South Africa during my time in the local eSports scene, where strategy and split-second decisions meant the difference between victory and defeat. After relocating to Prague, I immersed myself in trading card games (Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Lorcana, Pokémon, and many more) dedicating countless hours in tournaments and local leagues.

Then, one day, as I walked along the river, listening to a D&D podcast, inspiration struck. What if I could take everything I loved about competitive play and transform it into something tangible? What if I could design games where the weight of each decision mattered, where players were truly challenged and forced to push the limits of their strategies?

Every card I design, every rule I craft, is dedicated to the players who seek meaning in their play, those who long for discovery and strive for mastery. My hope is for my designs to forge friendships through the spirit of competition.”
